Franklin County senior Chad Cox took fourth place in the high jump at the boys track and field state finals at Indiana University on Saturday with a jump of 6’7.” Cox will be competing at a national level event this weekend in Marion, and set the Franklin County high jump record earlier this season at 6’8.”
Connersville junior Parker Sweet made his second appearance at the state meet, advancing out of the 110-meter hurdle preliminaries, and placing ninth in the final in a time of 14.98.
Franklin County senior Jacob Schatzle needed his third and final attempt in the long jump preliminaries to advance to the finals. Schatzle jumped 21’10” to make the final, and jumped 22’1” to take tenth place at state.

Schools are out, and graduation has come and gone. The Spring sports season is finishing up, and last Saturday three area athletes went up against the best high school competition in Indiana at the IHSAA state track and field finals, and all placed in the top 10 in their respective events.
