Eighty-five students at St. Gabriel’s Elementary School concluded the 2021-2022 school year by being awarded the Presidential, and National Physical Fitness Award.
According to the health.gov website, the President’s Council has promoted the Youth Fitness Program to provide a comprehensive evaluation of physical activity and overall health levels of the nation’s students. The Council has also sought to provide educators and parents the training and resources needed to assess, track, and recognize youth fitness. The program has evolved over the years to move away from recognizing athletic performance. The program now is designed to provide a barometer concerning a student’s physical wellbeing.
