The Connersville Spartan boys’ soccer team concluded a busy off-season schedule on Saturday at the Mt. Vernon showcase in Fortville. For fifteen years Mt. Vernon has been hosting the showcase for some of the best teams in the region for college coaches to scout players, and for high school coaches and players to face off against high level competition prior to the start of the regular season.
Connersville is returning 10 of their 11 starters from last season with 4 incoming seniors to lead Mike Bottomley’s side. A couple of incoming freshmen and returning underclassmen who should bolster a program which already has a great deal of chemistry and continuity. Bottomley talked about the value in playing high level competition in an exhibition setting.
