James L. Parker, 76, of Connersville, went home to be with the Lord on September 12, 2020, with his family by his side. James was born on February 24, 1944, in New Castle, Indiana. He was the only child to John and Blanche Parker.

After graduating from Connersville High School, he then joined the United States Navy. During the first part of his Navy experience, James was on a minesweeper. He then ended his Navy journey on a nuclear sub and teaching many classes. After retiring from the Navy in 1983, he came back to Connersville. This is where he married his childhood sweetheart and the love of his life, Penny Trent Hauger at Calvary Baptist Church on November 10, 1984.

James was an active member of Calvary Baptists Church and was also a member of the Whitewater Valley Wood Carvers Club for many years.

He loved fishing, wood carving, being outdoors, reading his bible, and attending church. He loved spending time with family and playing with his grandkids the most.

James is survived by four children, James (Cory) Parker, Jodi (Richard) Rogers, Lisa Hauger, and Tina Hauger; nine grandchildren, Adina Jo Parker, Josephine Tungate, Cierra (Justin) Ray, Daisy Rogers, Amanda (Gary) Harlan, Thea (Nate) Ison, Garrett Madden, Parker Csillag, and Hallie Csillag; seven great-grandchildren, Evelyn Ray, Paxton Ray, Ryliegh Daugherty, Jase Harlan, Leo and Pierce Ison, and Emberliegh Becraft.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and his mother-in-law, Juanita Trent; and father-in-law, Charles Trent.

Visitation for James will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 from 10:00am until 12:00pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 309 W. 24th St., Connersville, with the funeral service beginning at 12:00pm, with Pastor John Reynolds and Kim McHale officiating. Burial with graveside military honors presented by the Fayette County Honor Guard will follow in Dale Cemetery.
