Gary Wayne Lakes, 75, died Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.

Wayne was born to Clarence and Alice Gabbard Lakes on October 15, 1945 in Oneida, Kentucky. He attended Mckee High School prior to moving to Connersville in 1961. Wayne married Sherilyn Smith on July 1, 1967 at Central Christian Church in Connersville. He was employed with D&M, where he was a proud member of the UAW. More recently, Wayne was employed with CRF First Choice prior to his retirement. He loved hunting mushrooms, raccoon, rabbit and squirrel. Wayne also enjoyed bowling with his friends from D&M and cheering on his beloved UK wildcats.
