CMS Spartans of the Week

Brandon Novack is Connersville Middle School’s 7th grade Spartan of the Week for the week of Feb. 12. Brandon is the son of William and Deanna Novack.

Melissa Simpkins, Eagle English teacher, nominated him for being respectful, responsible and ready to learn. She said, “Brandon always has his work complete and is prepared for class. He performs above his peers on most assignments. His politeness, positivity, and willingness to go above and beyond sets him above the rest.”

Brandon made the honor roll both the first and second grading periods. Last year as a student at Frazee, he received the School Board Academic Achievement award.

In his free time, he likes to relax and play with his pets. After high school he would like to attend college to become a veterinarian. Brandon’s favorite class is social studies. When asked what he liked best about being a student at Connersville Middle School, Brandon said, “I like that we get to hang out with friends, that the teachers are really nice, and it is easy to fit in.”

Cheryl Garrison is CMS’s 8th grade Spartan of the Week for the week of Feb, 12. Cheryl is the daughter of Gregory and Paula Garrison.

Clay Hurd, Diamond social studies teacher, nominated her for being respectful, responsible and ready to learn. He stated, “Cheryl consistently demonstrates the 3 R’s. She does well in all of her classes and she is kind to all students and adults.”

Lindsey Brooks, Diamond science teacher, adds, “Cheryl is consistently a leader in class as well as for her community with her volunteer work.”

Cheryl is a member of the eighth grade band, jazz band and Team Lead bystander leadership group. She participates in CMS Honor Society and the Student Council. Cheryl was a member of the eighth grade volleyball team and is on the basketball team. She made the honor roll both the first and second grading periods and last year received the School Board Academic Achievement award, the Principal’s award, and the band’s Outstanding Musician award. This fall she received the Best Mental Attitude award for volleyball.

Outside of school, Cheryl participates in 4-H and is a member of the Baptist Temple youth group. She likes to hang out with friends.

Her favorite classes are Family Consumer Sciences and Project Lead the Way. After high school, she would like to attend college and pursue a career in education.

Cheryl’s advice to 7th grade students is to “work hard and strive for your goal.” When asked what she liked about CMS, Cheryl stated, “I enjoy that I get a variety of classes instead of being in one room all day. I also enjoy that I get to see lots of friends.”
