Dannie Witter

Dannie Witter, 66, of West College Corner, Ind., passed away Sunday evening, Jan. 7, 2018, at his home.

The younger of two children of Wayne and Vada Wooley Witter, Dannie was born in Oxford, Ohio on Oct. 5, 1951.

He graduated from Union High School with the class of 1970 and Porter Business College, Indianapolis in 1971.

On Oct. 2, 1971, he married the former Nancy Kaye Figg in Anderson, Ind., and moved to their current residence.

Dannie retired from Oxford Township Road Maintenance after 15 years and had been sexton of College Corner Cemetery. For many years, he worked with John Seibert Sealing in College Corner. Dannie was active in his community where he was elected and currently serving on the Union County Common Council for a number of years. Dannie was also a 44-year member of the West College Corner Volunteer Fire Department where he had served as Treasurer. Along with his family, he farmed in the area and raised Charolais Cattle. He was also a member of the Jaycees in Liberty, Ind., the National Charolais Association, and Indiana Charolais where he served as past president and secretary-treasurer. Dannie was a Little League coach for many years and a leader of the Stateline Farmers 4-H club. An avid bowler, Dannie was a member of the Ohio State Bowling Association and the Indiana Micro-Mini Tractor Pullers Association.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Nancy Witter; two sons, Anthony Witter and Shane A. (Ellie) Witter, all of Bath, Ind.; three grandsons, Justin, Jack, and Troy Witter; a brother, Gerald (Besty) Witter of Palm Bay, Fla.; two nephews, Mike Witter and Derek Witter, both of Palm Bay, Fla. Dannie is blessed with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, at Trinity Holiness Church, 200 Indiana St., West College Corner, Ind., 47003. Pastor Britt Hensley officiating. Burial will follow in Crawford Cemetery in Union Township. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at the church. Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home, Connersville, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
