The city will be applying for a grant to purchase AED’s according to Jolissa Bates, the city’s grant writer.

“I have the application ready to go, it is due October 1 for the IPEP Safety grant, Indiana Public Employers Plan,” Bates said. “They offer a grant for safety items every year. This year due to a concern that was expressed, we will be applying for automated external defibrillators (AED) to be placed in the Connersville Police Department, Connersville Parks Department, Connersville Utilities and the Transfer Station. The total cost is over $9,900 for the AED’s and the grant will cover 80 percent of that cost. We are trying to replace equipment that is compatible with different emergency departments. If there is an emergency and they are responding it is easier to swap the pads, etc.”
