News-Examiner: The Connersville News-Examiner office, 406 Central Ave., is closed to the public. The paper will be fewer pages during the COVID-19 outbreak. Meals and food

Salvation Army: The Salvation Army, 431 W. Western Ave. is handing out sack dinners until further notice.

They will not be holding in-house signs ups for Easter assistance vouchers. Instead, people can call 765-993-1138 between 1 and 5 p.m. Friday, March 20, to sign up over the phone.

Community Meals: Available at First Presbyterian Church, 700 Central Ave., Sunday from 5-6 p.m. Guests will pick up takeout meals at the entry door to Fellowship Hall instead of coming inside.

Community meals: starting Monday, lunch will be brought to Conner Court Apartments from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Urban-Winkler Funeral Home parking lot from 2:30-4 p.m. and Offutts Park from 4:30-6 p.m.

Drive-thru food pantry: Grace United Methodist Church food pantry will be open for drive-thru pickup only. Patrons may drive to the church at 2936 Indiana Ave. and food will be brought out to the vehicle. Hours are 9-10:30 a.m. Monday and 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Government and services

Fayette County: Courthouse will have only one door open to the public: the north entrance off of the parking lot. There and at the entrance to the courthouse annex, staff and visitors will have their temperature taken by a county employee, who will also ask if their business is essential or whether it could be conducted by phone or email. Persons who exhibit symptoms of possible coronavirus will be asked to leave.

City Hall: City Hall and the police station at 500 Central Ave. are closed to the public. People needing something at City Hall may call 765-825-4211 and the mayor or clerk-treasurer will come to the door. People needing to talk to a police officer or the police secretary in person may enter through the dispatch door on the south side of City Hall along 5th Street.

Utilities: City utilities on Vine Street is closed. People can drop off payments at the drive thru. 

Transfer station: Closed except to city trash trucks.

BZA, APC: The Area Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals have cancelled their March 26 meetings.

Fayette County Public Library: closed until April 6.

God’s Little Blessings: Early Learning Center closed until further notice.

Businesses

Showplace Cinemas: movie theater closed.

Reid HealthWorks: closed until further notice. At reidhealthier.org are exercises and health/wellness tips.

Groups and activities

Open mic night: Imagine Performing Arts cancelled the open mic night scheduled for Saturday.

Fayette County Historical Museum: closed the next two weekends, March 21-22, 28-29.

ACD Meet: The Connersville Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Club Meet scheduled for May 8-10 is postponed.

Pinwheels for Prevention: parade that was scheduled for April 16 has been cancelled, according to Prevent Child Abuse Fayette County. It is likely the group will still put out “pinwheel gardens” to draw attention to the issue of child abuse.

Fayette County Cancer Society: cancelled meeting of Monday, March 23.

Conner Quilters: meetings on Tuesday at Whitewater Valley Arts Association cancelled until further notice.

Connersville Lions Club: meetings cancelled through April.

Connersville Kiwanis: cancelled through at least the end of March.

WV Woodcarvers: cancel Monday meetings until at least April 13. Email John Duffy at jdcarves2@yahoo.com for updates.

Rotary Club: club meetings cancelled until the end of March or longer.

GOP Lincoln-Reagan Day Dinner: The Fayette County Republican Party has postponed its dinner that was scheduled for March 27 with talk show host Bill Cunningham. Refund for tickets is available or they will be honored at the rescheduled event.

Churches

Catholic churches: St. Gabriel and St. Bridget (Liberty) Catholic churches will be closed. The parish office will be closed but staff will work from home and can respond to email.

Bentonville Christian Church: services cancelled until further notice.

Crosspointe Biker Church: Closed to the public Sunday. Live feed on Facebook at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Connersville Baptist Temple: gatherings on its campus are cancelled including Sunday worship services. Sunday morning worship will be online. Offices will remain open.

Grace United Methodist Church: no Sunday services through April 5. For information, call 704-219-4883.

Alquina United Methodist: closed for worship services through April 11.

First United Methodist Church: closed for worship through April 12. Services available online on Pastor Frank Oakman’s Facebook page and the church Facebook page. Office hours will continue as normal.

Brianna’s Hope and Betterdayz Thru Jesus Christ: No meetings for four weeks for the groups that meet at First United Methodist Church.

Bible Study Fellowship: meeting via video conferencing. This includes the Richmond class, which meets Mondays, and the Connersville Evening Women’s Class, which normally meets Tuesdays at Peace Lutheran Church.
