Well-known bluegrass musician playing here

Renowned bluegrass musician Larry Sparks will be playing two concerts in Connersville Saturday night. His band, Larry Sparks and the Lonesome Ramblers, have been performing together for 50 years.

A renowned bluegrass musician will be presenting two shows in Connersville on Saturday.

Larry Sparks and the Lonesome Ramblers will play shows at the James Roberts Memorial Building at Roberts Park, 2900 Park Road. Tickets are $25 at the door.

Sparks is a leader for bluegrass music, widely-known and respected touring musicians in bluegrass and gospel music. He began his career in the mid-1960’s as guitarist with the Stanley Brothers and later became lead vocalist for Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys.

Sparks went on to form his own band, The Lonesome Ramblers, in 1969. He is celebrating 50 years in 2019 with Larry Sparks & The Lonesome Ramblers. 

Among his hits are A Face In The Crowd, Blue Virginia Blues, I’ve Just Seen The Rock Of Ages, Tennessee 1949, John Deere Tractor, I Just Want To Thank You Lord, Love Of The Mountains, The Last Suit, These Ole Blues. 

He has performed on such world famous venues as the Grand Ole Opry, Austin City Limits television show, and other PBS appearances. 

He has been recognized as the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Male Vocalist of the Year. Sparks also was awarded Album of the Year and Recorded Event of the Year with his album Larry Sparks 40 featuring several artists such as Alison Krauss, Vince Gill, Ralph Stanley, Ricky Skaggs, Tom T. Hall and others.

Tickets to the local show will be $25 at the door.
