By KATE THURSTON - kthurston@newsexaminer.com

Eagles Lodge #1065 will host a dinner-dance for veterans from Fayette County.

Dinner starts at 6 p.m. Saturday. Garrie D. Woolery and the Backstage Pass Band will play from 8 p.m. to midnight.

“The Aerie (Eagles organization) does this to honor Fayette County veterans and the service they have provided,” organizer Jeff Griffin said. “Daniel Girls (restaurant) will be providing the meals again this year.”

A spaghetti dinner (with bread stick, salad and a dessert will be served free of charge to veterans and their spouses. All others will be asked for a $5 donation. Free will donations will also be accepted.

“Our veterans sacrifice so much. Even if they made it back home, they and their families deserve to be honored. Since less then 1 percent of the U.S. population serve or have served in the military they deserve every respect and honor that they can get,” Griffin said.

Any proceeds will be donated to the Fayette County Honor Guard.

This event is open to the public at the Eagles Lodge, 800 N. Eastern Ave. Veterans are encouraged to wear their uniforms. For information, call 765-825-4041.
