Chamber seeking award nominations

It’s still a few months away but the annual dinner is where the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce presents awards to people who’ve made a difference.

The Chamber wants to know who should get the awards for Citizen of the Year, Small Business / Entrepreneur and Beautification. Nominations are due by Dec. 20. The Annual Dinner and Awards Program will be Feb. 6, 2020.

Here are guidelines for nominations, which can be made by anyone. Nomination forms are available on the Chamber website, fayetteinchamber.com or at the chamber office in City Hall, 500 Central Ave.

The individual or group being nominated does not have to be a member of the Chamber of Commerce.

• Citizen of the Year: This represents the highest recognition given by the Chamber to an individual member of the business community. Candidates must be or have been active in the Fayette County business community, with the following criteria: demonstrated leadership, success in promoting the development of the community, overall involvement in and contributions to the community, participation in professional activities and respected reputation among the community’s leadership. Elected officials while in office are not eligible.

• Small Business/Entrepreneur: For a small business or entrepreneur that demonstrates and exemplifies the American dream of free enterprise and success. This award is given to a business that has, and continues to make a significant contribution and impact on the community by superior or unique accomplishments in the operation of their business or other endeavors. Through its integrity and charity, this small business or entrepreneur should provide a goodwill spirit and character within the community.

• Beautification: Given in recognition of an organization or business which has made an outstanding contribution to the effort of beautifying and raising the image of Connersville / Fayette County aesthetically through efforts with their business and/or throughout the county.
