of Carpe Deum LLC of Vevay

After being open a little over two years, Connersville IGA at 1508 Virginia Ave. has closed its doors.

Store owner Eric Rabe confirmed the closing Monday afternoon.

Rabe opened the location in July of 2017 after Marsh went out of business that previous March when the chain declared bankruptcy.

Rabe is a former Kroger executive who, when the local store opened, also owned five other IGA stores in the region.

Between July and August of 2017, Rabe and his crew remodeled the store, which opened on Aug. 11, 2017.

In a phone conversation on Monday, Rabe said, “There are different reasons why we are closing, but the main reason is the lease is up and we aren't going to renew it.”

According to property tax records, the property is owned by Carpe Deum LLC of Vevay. Records available from the Indiana Secretary of State show that Rabe is the president of Carpe Deum.

He said this is the only one of his locations that is closing.

When the Connersville News-Examiner contacted the local store, the manager had no comment.
