It all started with dabbling in makeup and then it quickly turned into something she couldn’t stop doing.

Katona Chapman said she always loved makeup and playing around with it ever since she was a kid.

“I’ve always had a love for makeup but got really into it during high school. I really enjoyed getting the chance to create something different each and every time I was able to do someone’s makeup,” Chapman said. “I’ve been doing makeup for myself since I was in middle school but professionally for three years after I completed a certification course at Paul Mitchell.”

Chapman said makeup is an outlet and lets her be creative.

“It truly is an outlet, it’s like creating art that you get to wear and every day is something different and styles are always changing. What I enjoy most about doing makeup is the reactions people make. You should always feel beautiful about how you look without makeup but it’s a way to highlight your features.

“There is something about doing makeup that is therapy to me. I enjoy making people feel good about themselves, or if someone comes to me with a cool idea for special effects or Halloween, I love trying new things and really enjoy letting my creativity runaway with me. It is always fun to create something new and satisfying after it is done. I love seeing clients pleased with their look.”

She enjoys makeup for Halloween and special effects.

“The (most fun) things I have done so far are definitely special effects, not only creating stuff that is scary but the simplest things like brightening a tattoo to look better on camera, or a bruise to add effect.”
