EMS getting 3 garage doors

It will cost $36,142 to install garage doors at the new Fayette County Emergency Medical Services building.

EMS Commander Dale Munson said Mideast Machinery and Movers Inc. of New Paris, Ohio, presented the lowest of four bids at $23,362 to frame the three doors. HPH and Associates of Connersville provided the drawings for $2,000, and Ripberger Construction of Fayette County will install the doors for $10,780.

Munson planned to ask City Council for the money Monday night. Funding comes from the Riverboat Fund.

In other business before the Board of of Public Works and Safety on Monday:

• Economic Development Group Director Dan Parker announced the EDG would gift 2.6 acres in the Airport Industrial Park, located at Indiana 1 and County Road 450-N. Applications will be reviewed for capital investment and long-term employment. Contact the EDG at 765-827-1366 for more information.

• Mayor Harold Gordon proclaimed this week as Downtown Development Week in honor of many activities going on in, including Apple Dumpling Days Saturday and Sunday.

• Mike Bottomley, Connersville Utilities director, announced Indiana Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch will be in Connersville at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at The Oasis, 513 Central Ave. to present funding for the Memorial Drive storm water project.

• Aimee Brumfield of the Fayette County Cemetery Commission announced the rededication of the Vivian Allison Dollhouse in the City Cemetery at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, the 120th anniversary of the young girl’s passing.

• The Transfer Station at 1000 S. Indiana Highway 121 will host a document shred day for Fayette County residents only from 8-11:30 a.m. Saturday. No business documents will be accepted.
