Early voting starts Tuesday

Early voting for city officials in Connersville and Glenwood will start on Tuesday.

This year’s election, which ends on Tuesday, Nov. 5, is only for municipal offices. In Connersville there are contests for mayor and six of the seven positions on Connersville City Council.

Glenwood has four candidates for its three town council positions.

Glenwood residents who live in Fayette County can cast votes at the courthouse; if they live in Rush County, they must vote in that county.

Residents who are not registered or who have changed addresses have until 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, to register or transfer at the Fayette County clerk’s voter registration office on the second floor of the Fayette County Courthouse, 401 Central Ave. Online registration through the Indiana Secretary of State website continues until midnight Monday.

Absentee voting will start Tuesday, Oct. 8, in the clerk’s office.

Early voting will be held daily at the courthouse from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. beginning Oct. 8 and continuing until noon on the day before the election, Monday, Nov. 4.

A traveling board will start visiting voters who are disabled or confined on Oct. 17. These voters can cast an absentee ballot at their place of residence if they request it through the clerk’s office.

The courthouse voting place will be open from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays, Oct. 26 and Nov. 2. The county’s computerized voting machines will be tested by MicroVote, the vendor, on Sept. 24.

For information, contact the county clerk’s office, 765-825-1813 or clerk@co.fayette.in.us.
