Six from CHS in All-State Choir

Six Connesville High School students will be singing in an All State Choir that will perform in January.

Only 250 students from the state were selected for All State Choir. CHS students performing are sophomores Orin O’Brian, Ben Bischoff and Hannah Glover; and seniors Anna Chalker, Ethan Jennings and Isaac Walksy.

“They competed for eight spots in our zone which includes Connersville, Centerville, New Castle, Blue River Valley, Richmond and Winchester and these six students took those spots,” Roger Tyler, CHS choral director, said. “They will have four rehearsals before January. They will go two days in January to rehearse and then do a concert.”

Their first rehearsal is Monday at Centerville High School.

The 2020 All-State Honor Choir will perform in Fort Wayne on the weekend of Jan. 17. The choir will be conducted by Sandra Snow of Michigan State University, where she conducts the Women’s Chamber Ensemble. She travels extensively, conducting all-state and honor choirs and holding residencies with singers of all ages.

Repertiore for the 2020 All-State Honor Choir will be Ezekiel Saw de Wheel, Adoramus te, Christe di Lassa; Awake the Harp; The Roo; O meu maracatu, arr. Afonso earthsongs; Shar Ki Ri from Tibetan Cantata, Clearfield,  and I am the great sun.
