Abigail Dennis is Connersville Middle School’s seventh-grade Spartan of the Week for the week of Oct. 7. Abigail is the daughter of Steve and Angela Dennis.

Amy King nominated her for being “a student who displays the 3 R’s (respectful, responsible and ready to learn) every day.” King adds, “Abby comes into class and is ready to start the class. She is willing to participate and help others. She has a positive attitude and is eager to learn. She is a joy to have in class.”

Abigail is a member of the CMS choir, the Service Learning club, and plans to try out for the basketball team.

Outside of school, she is a member of the Everton Southern Baptist Church youth group. In her free time, Abigail likes to help her mom cook and exercise.

As a student last year at Fayette Central, she was on the honor roll. Her favorite classes are social studies and FACS.

After high school she would like to become a therapist or veterinarian.

When asked what she liked best about being a student at Connersville Middle School, Abigail said, “I like how you get more freedom to walk around and talk to your friends.”

Allison Edwards is CMS’s eighth-grade Spartan of the Week for the week of Oct. 7. Allison is the daughter of Aaron and Andrea Edwards.

Jane Mullins, CMS secretary, nominated her for her great attitude. Mullins praised, “Every day Allison comes in to Spartan Pride as a Red Coat, asking what she can do to help or if I have anything she can work on. She always has a cheerful attitude and is not afraid to share a smile or kind word to someone. She also mentioned that she will be doing student mentoring soon and is very excited about this. She is currently maintaining straight A’s and she is truly a joy to have as an office helper.”

In addition to being a Red Coat office helper, Allison is a member of the CMS band and the 4-H club. As a seventh grader last year, she was an honor roll student and received the Principal’s Award and a Spell Bowl award.

Outside of school, Allison participates in 4-H and is a member of the Baptist Temple youth group. In her free time, she likes spending time playing with her dogs, playing on her phone, and hunting.

Allison’s favorite class is Peer Tutoring in Megan Durstine’s class.

After high school, she wants to attend college to become a teacher.

Her advice to seventh-grade students is to “do your homework and be on time.”

When asked what she liked best about CMS, Allison stated, “I like being able to have a variety of classes and being able to talk to my friends during passing period.”
