Marcia June Holmes

Marcia June Holmes, 87, of Glenwood, passed away Monday morning, August 12, 2019, at her home.

A daughter of Clifford Gale and Elva Grace Humes Lewark, June was born on June 10, 1932, and lived her entire life in Fayette County, where she attended Orange High School.

On October 12, 1949, June married Richard D. Holmes in the home of Richard’s parents. Mr. Holmes passed away on March 15, 2009. June and Richard lived in Waterloo Township for nine months before moving south of Glenwood on the Lewark home farm. Following Gale’s death, they purchased the land and built the house where they presently have lived since 1964. June was a member of Glenwood United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star Chapter #143 of which she was Past Matron in 1964-1965, served as Page at the Indiana Grand Chapter OES in 1965, and served as District Deputy of District #12 in 1970. June served five years as Orange Township 4-H Adult Leader. June was employed at Purdue Cooperative Extension Service in Connersville for 42 years, retiring in 1995.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Kaye (Doug) Stegner of Connersville, and a son-in-law, Marc Lacy of Rushville; six grandchildren, Tonia (David) Grounds of Glenwood, Heather (Larry) Lucas of Connersville, Darren (Angela) Stegner of Connersville, Molli Taylor of Connersville, and Jody Selby; fourteen great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her husband of 59 years, Richard D. Holmes, June was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Monica June Lacy in 2001; two sisters, Marcella Johnson and Doris Reader; granddaughter, Stacy Selby Robbins; and a great-grandson, Casey Bare.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2019, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Reverend Richard Ware will officiate. Burial will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2019, at the funeral home.
