CMS opens sports to sixth-graders

Starting this school year, sixth-grade students will have the opportunity to compete in swimming, wrestling and cross country at Connersville Middle School.

All athletes interested would need to have a completed physical and signed forms in the CMS office, and be issued a red card before they could begin practices. Transportation to practices would not be provided.

Physical packets can be picked up in the CMS office. 

Parks Department announces sign-up

The Connersville Parks and Recreation Department has released a schedule of sign-up deadlines and fees for its sports programs.

• Fall soccer: ages 3-14, $25 per child, deadline Aug. 16.

• Girls basketball: grades 1-6, $25 per child, deadline Sept. 27.

People can register for any of the programs at the John H. Miller Community Center in Roberts Park, 2900 Park Road. The Parks Department office is open 8 a.m.-11:30 a.m. and 12:30-4 p.m. For information, call 765-825-5244.

CHS football to play at Lucas Oil Stadium

As part of the Southeastern Showdown, the Connersville High School football team will play its Week 3 game against Greensburg inside Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts, on Saturday, Sept. 7.

Four games involving seven of the eight teams in the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference will be held on the day.

The Spartans will kick off the day, facing the Pirates at noon. That game will be followed by Franklin County vs. Rushville at 2:45 p.m., Batesville vs. South Dearborn at 5:30 p.m., and Lawrenceburg vs. Milan at 8 p.m.

East Central is the lone EIAC squad that will not play at the event.

All-Sport tickets will NOT be good at the event. Price per ticket to the Showdown is $12 and will be good for all four games. There will be discounted tickets for Connersville Youth Football League members. Tickets for the event are on sale at the CHS athletic office.

Information on T-shirts being sold by each school for the Showdown will be coming shortly.

CHS All-Sport tickets on sale

Connersville High School is now selling All-Sport tickets for the 2019-20 school year.

Ticket prices are as follows: Adults - $60; Student - $40; Senior Citizens - $55. A family pass (for immediate family members only) is also available for $200. All children on the family pass must live in the same household, and must be enrolled at one of the school within the Fayette County School Corporation.
