Local drive collects 141 pairs of shoes

Ella Claypoole, granddaughter of Patricia “Tric” RyboltHeepe, with 141 pairs of shoes sorted and ready to be prepared for shipment to the Soles4Soles program.

A big thank you to the customers of Union Savings and Loan Connersville locations and Best One Tire in Richmond for the shoe drive organized by the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) Fayette County ESO.

GFWC’s partnership with Soles4Souls set a national goal to donate 1,000 pairs of shoes during the 2018-2020 administration. Thanks to your donations, our club was able to deliver 141 pair to the Soles4Souls collection site in Cincinnati.

Nationwide, GFWC has already donated 36,763 pairs. The new goal is 40,000, so if you have additional shoes (new or gently used, men’s women’s and children’s) please take them to Best One Tire in Richmond or call Patricia “Tric” Rybolt Heepe at 765-969-1891 and she will make arrangements to pick them up.

GFWC Fayette County ESO is the local club. The club meets monthly and supports local, national and international charities, including a $200 scholarship for CHS seniors, books to local schools and the public library, Genesis of Richmond (a domestic violence and sexual assault center), state GFWC scholarships, the USO and Operation Smile to name a few. Women interested in joining may contact Heepe.
