Dedication and working for good grades paid off for the 11 Connersville High School students inducted into Société Honoraire de Français – the French Honor Society – Wednesday.

Students must have an A average in their French classes and a B average in other classes, and not just for the year, but for their entire high school career, Judith Echano Medina, CHS French teacher and World Languages Department chair, said.

The inductees said they felt a sense of accomplishment and relief.

“I feel very successful,” Tylissa  Beckner, a CHS junior and French Honor Society member said. “I worked very hard for this and knowing that I am a member feels amazing. Especially after all the studying and work I’ve done for French, while also studying for other tests and classes.”

“It took a lot of dedication and work, but we made it,” Beckner said.

Each member received a certificate marking their induction. After the induction in the Robert E. Wise Center for the Performing Arts, students and their parents met outside for cake and desserts.

“This is a great feeling,” Payton McFarland, another French Honor Society member said. “I can’t wait to celebrate with the cake. Me and Medina have been talking about this cake for a while,” McFarland laughed.

“It’s just awesome for us to be recognized for our hard work, because it wasn’t easy to maintain all A’s and B’s in every class every year,” Stinger said.

The 11 students who were inducted into the French Honor Society Wednesday night are, Tylissa Beckner, Anna Chalker, Carrie Cooley, Morgan Hauger, Alex Kenworthy, Ryleigh Loper, Brooke McClung, Jacob McCreary, Payton McFarland, Alyssa Mitchell and Abbi Stinger.

Société Honoraire de Français has had a chapter at CHS since 2013. It’s a national organization affiliated with the American Association of Teachers of French.
