Runners of all ages gathered for the Pinwheel 5K run Saturday morning in Roberts Park.

“Having an outdoor event early in April is always a challenge,” Carl Scheib, Every Child Matters Prevent Child Abuse Fayette County vice president, said. “But we had good weather this morning for the 5K run.”

The 5K went through the park. Afterwards, the John Roberts Memorial Building hosted a Family Resource Fair and free pancake breakfast. Local child agencies set up booths where families could learn about and to receive information packets.

Silly Safari had an educational animal show for children. The performer and teacher for the Silly Safari, whose Silly Safari name is Angcat, showed the children different kinds of animals including an albino rabbit and an owl, and described their preferred habitat.
