A Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Lancetin R. Workman, 211 Summit Ave., and a Chevrolet Malibu driven by Margaret M. Hamilton, 5050 W. County Road 900-N., were involved in an accident Sunday at Eastern Avenue and 8th Street, Connersville Police Officer Josh Durstine said.

A Toyota Matrix driven by Leola M. Curtsinger, 3097 E. Indiana 44, and a Mercedes Benz C230 driven by Janet R. Kidd, 1156 Major Drive, were involved in an accident Sunday at 4200 Western Ave., CPD Officer William Ammerman said.

Durstine reported Sunday arriving at the scene of an accident in the 2400 block of Park Road where the driver of a northbound vehicle, identified as Carter Blakley, no address provided, had crossed two lanes of traffic and got on the sidewalk in front of the Connersville Utilities garage and stopped at 24th Street. Investigation continues.

A Kia Sorento driven by Donna M. Whitney, 1936 Ohio Ave., struck a juvenile pedestrian Saturday who ran into the street at Ohio Avenue and 19th Street. Fayette County Emergency Medical Services transported the juvenile to Fayette Regional Health System for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, Ammerman said.

A Dodge Avenger driven by Jessica A. Anthony, 2245 Indiana Ave., and a Pontiac G6 driven by Paula D. Phelps, 370 E. County Road 340-S., were involved in an accident Friday at Virginia Avenue and West 22nd Street, CPD Sgt. Brad Rockwell said.


Trenton C. Smith, 45, 3600 Western Ave. Apt. 338D, was arrested Monday at the Fayette County Jail by Fayette County Sheriff’s Department Transportation Officer Ryan Young on a warrant charge of possession of a syringe. Smith was lodged in FCJ in lieu of $15,000 bond.

Michael A. Davis, 46, Muncie, was arrested Sunday at Indiana Avenue and 30th Street by CPD Officer Josh Tudor on warrant charges of operating under the influence of a controlled substance and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Davis was lodged in FCJ with no bond amount listed.

Aaron M. Dunaway, 27, 3100 Waterloo Road, was arrested Sunday at 3700 Western Ave. by CPD Officer Kyle Miller on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine. Dunaway was lodged in FCJ in lieu of $8,500 bond.

Shandra P. Fairchild, 21, 2234 Grand Ave., was arrested Saturday at 1200 W. 3rd St. by Ammerman on a charge of possession of marijuana. Fairchild was lodged in FCJ with no bond amount listed.

Brandy A. Carey, 39, 1512 Eastern Ave., was arrested Saturday in the 1200 block of Eastern Avenue by CPD Lt. Kevin Perry on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated per se with .15 or greater blood alcohol level. Carey was lodged in FCJ in lieu of $4,000 bond.

Christian K. Turner, 20, 1200 W. 3rd St. Room 12, was arrested Saturday at 1200 W. 3rd St. by Ammerman on charges of disorderly conduct, intimidation and possession of marijuana. Turner was lodged in FCJ in lieu of $9.500 bond.

Frank L. Rees, 64, 645 W. 18th St., was arrested Friday at his residence by Ammerman on a charge of possession of marijuana. Rees was lodged in FCJ with no bond amount listed.

Joshua M. McQueen, 41, 269 Dorsett Drive, was arrested Friday at Towne Terrace Apartments by FCSD Detective Chad Blaes on warrant charges of auto theft, and possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. McQueen was lodged in FCJ in lieu of $300,000 bond.


CPD reported two verbal arguments Monday.

Brett R. Snyder, 311 E. 17th St., reported Sunday the driver of a dark-colored passenger car back into his Mazda M3 while at McDonald’s, 518 W. 30th St. The driver asked if everyone was fine, he then drove away, Ammerman said.

Ashley Street reported Sunday evening her purse had been taken from her vehicle while parked at 2800 Western Ave., Ammerman said.

Keven F. Neuman, 2844 Iowa Ave., reported Sunday his door had been opened while he was gone. Nothing appeared to be missing, Durstine said.

William E. Johnson, 1308 Eastern Ave., reported someone took cash from his residence Sunday, Durstine said.

An employee at 3700 Western Ave. reported Sunday someone had overdosed in a room at the motel. Officers located Aaron Dunaway and arrested him, Miller said.

CPD reported two overdoses, three citizen assists, two batteries, one juvenile issue, one animal issue, two welfare checks and one unwanted subject Sunday.

John R. Cooksey, 2018 Grand Ave., reported Saturday his Nissan Murano had been struck while parked at the residence, Ammerman said.

Joshua M. Embrey, 835 Sycamore St., reported Saturday his rent money had been stolen from the residence, CPD Officer Scott Phillips said.

Rebekah D. Mengedoht, 512 W. 10th St., reported Saturday cash had been stolen from the residence, Phillips said.

James Case Jr. reported Saturday four tires on his vehicle had been slashed while parked at 3209 Wayne Ave., Tudor said.

CPD reported three citizen assists, one unwanted subject, one juvenile issue, one verbal argument, one case of harassment, one threat and eight Operation Pull Over violations Saturday.

An employee of Walmart reported Friday a customer left a small bag on a counter that contained a syringe, baggies and a white substance that tested positive for methamphetamine, Ammerman said.

Phuong Nguyen Berry, Liberty, reported Friday a Ford F-150 had been loaded with items to move to Lexington, Ky. and hired a man to drive the truck. While going through Connersville, the driver went to tell family he would gone and then did not return to meet the family and continue the drive. Officers located the truck on West 8th Street with all items still on the truck. A warrant for theft will be sought, CPD Capt. Chris Scott said.

An employee of Hardee’s Restaurant, 500 Eastern Ave., reported Friday a woman in a red Ford Ranger passed a counterfeit $100 bill. When confronted, the woman drove away, CPD Lt. Craig Hamilton said.

CPD reported six citizen assists, two juvenile issues, two verbal arguments, one juvenile issue, one vehicle identification number check and one threat Friday.

Fire runs

Connersville Fire Department responded Monday to an alarm in the 1400 block of Madison Avenue and to medical calls in the 2200 block of Grand Avenue and the 2400 block of Grand Avenue.

CFD responded Sunday to medical calls in the 3700 block of Western Avenue, 800 block of Eastern Avenue and the 900 block of Central Avenue; to a vehicle accident at Eastern Avenue and East 8th Street; and to a trash fire in the 900 block of West 8th Street.

CFD responded Saturday to medical calls in the 900 block of Earl Drive, 200 block of West 19th Street and the 900 block of Central Avenue; to a vehicle accident at Central Avenue and 17th Street; and to a carbon monoxide alarm in the 3300 block of Iowa Avenue.

CFD responded Friday to the smell of gas in the 100 block of West 25th Street and to a vehicle accident in the 2600 block of South Indiana 121.
