Angel Parsley is Connersville Middle School’s seventh-grade Spartan of the Week for the week of March 11. Angel is the daughter of Ashley Becker and Mike Parsley.

Angel was nominated by the Eagles team teachers for being a “pleasant, hardworking student who is willing to participate in class, willing to ask questions, and willing to help others. She has really improved her work ethic since the beginning of the year!” Amy King, math teacher, added, “Angel demonstrates the 3 R’s in the classroom-respect, responsibility and ready to learn. Throughout the year, Angel has continually improved on her math skills. She works hard in class and is willing to participate during the lessons. Angel is friendly to everyone. She takes her time on her work to make sure she is comprehending the objective for the day. It is a pleasure to have her in class.”

At CMS, Angel is a member of the crochet club and the environmental club. In her spare time, she enjoys climbing trees and playing her PlayStation.

Angel’s favorite classes are English and reading.

After high school, she plans to attend college.

When asked what she liked best about being a student at CMS, Angel said, “I think that the best thing about being a student at CMS is that the teachers trust you to get your stuff and go to class on your own.”

Lucas Barron is CMS’s eighth-grade Spartan of the Week for the week of March 11. Lucas is the son of Dan and Lisa Barron.

Lucas was nominated by Cindy Newton, media center specialist, for being a great Green coat (media center student assistant). Newton stated, “Lucas comes in each day ready to work. He accomplishes his task with near perfection. No task is left undone. When I am busy, I know the media center is in good hands.”

At CMS, Lucas is a member of KanJam, basketball, intramurals, Honor Society, and the track and field team. He is also a Green Coat. Lucas is on the honor roll. Last year, he received the Principal’s Award and school board academic achievement award.

Outside of school, Lucas participates in a travel basketball team and the St. Gabriel youth group. In his spare time, he enjoys playing basketball, playing Xbox, and spending time with his friends.

His favorite classes are physical education and social studies.

After high school, he plans to attend college and work with technology.

When asked what he liked best about being a student at CMS, Lucas said, “You get to communicate with friends and the teachers are helpful.” His advice to seventh graders is, “Get your work done and do the best you can.”
