The Wizards are coming! The Wizards are coming!

That’s the call that students and staff from Frazee Elementary School are sending, the message ringing clearly at a kick-off celebration held at the school on Friday afternoon.

In an assembly for the entire school, teachers really got in the act, suiting up and taking on some of the students in a 5-on-5 impromptu game.

Enthusiasm wasn’t hard to come by for those in attendance, as cheers and groans were loud and clear throughout the student body, celebrating each basket and missed shot.

The final score of the ‘game’ was ... well, no one really knows. That didn’t matter anyway, as a good time was had by all involved, and that was the point.

The event was held to get the students excited about the upcoming event, and to explain the ticket-sale process.

The students will be selling the tickets for $10 per person. Pre-sale tickets will be on sale until April 5 (at 2:30 p.m.). After that, tickets will be available at the door for $15 per person. Children under 3-years-old will be admitted for free, and that is the only discount that will be available.

Checks for the tickets can be made out to Frazee PTO.

The game is scheduled to take place that evening (April 5) at 7 p.m. (doors to the event will open at 6 p.m.).

In addition to the 5-on-5 pick-up game, students were further encouraged by the mention of prizes that would be available for ticket sales.

Students who sell at least five tickets will earn a Wizards lanyard. Those who sell 10 or more tickets will be entered into a raffle for a Wizards jersey. The top seller (determined each week from March 11 to April 5) will get to choose from Wizards souvenirs, such as basketballs, wristbands, sleeves, and more.

Money raised at the game will be used for renovations at Frazee Park, a public park located directly behind the school. The Frazee PTO and the Connersville Parks Department play to partner and buy new equipment and plans are in place to also build a shelter at the park for the community to enjoy.

Anyone interested in buying a ticket can contact the parent of a Frazee student. You can also call Frazee Elementary School at 765-825-6811.
