School board plans closed-door sessions

The Fayette County School Corporation board will have executive sessions before and after its public meeting on Tuesday.

The sessions, closed to the public, will be at 5:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. (or after the public meeting ends). The board will be discussing school safety and security and personnel evaluations during the sessions.

The public meeting begins at 6:30 p.m.

The board will meet in the administration building, 1401 Spartan Drive. 

Union Cemetery meeting

The annual meeting for Union Cemetery of Fayette County Inc. will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at the Daniel Moster residence, 4456 E. Lyonsville Road. The public may attend.

DNR issues new Indiana Fishing Guide

Paper copies of the 2019-20 Indiana Fishing Guide are available starting this week from Department of Natural Resources properties and some retailers. The guide will be available online soon at www.in.gov/dnr.

Highlights of the new guide include 2019 free fishing weekends, 2018 Fish of the Year and State Record Fish, new public access sites, an overview of largemouth bass and an overview of the Lake Michigan salmonid program.

County clerk now taking credit cards

The Fayette County Clerk’s office will begin taking credit cards for payments today, according to Lisa Mays Witt, clerk. The patron will be charged a fee of 50 cents or 3.5 percent of the charge.

Payments can be taken in the office or the telephone, Witt said. Visa, Master Card, Discover and American Express will be accepted.

Child support payments cannot be made by credit card, according to state law.
