In brief

Small biz workshops offered here

Two small business workshops are being offered locally by the Eastern Indiana Small Business Development Center.

During a Google / Search Engine Workshop, participants will learn of the importance of local search and finding businesses online. Participants should have a Gmail account and bring their own smart phone, laptop or tablet.

The free workshop, by the Eastern Indiana Small Business Development Center, will be from 4-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Connersville City Hall, 500 Central Ave. Pre-registration is required by calling Judy, 765-282-9950 ext. 110.

Three weeks later, from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at a location to be announced, the topic is “Dipping Your Toes into Social Media.” Participants will learn how to use social media to highlight your business and tap into new markets.

The workshop will cost $5 per person. People can register by contacting Gertrud Whitaker at the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce, 500 Central Ave., 765-825-2561 or gertrud@fayetteINchamber.com.

Both workshops are provided by the East Central ISBDC in cooperation with the chamber.

Donated cans benefit local Cancer Society

Aluminum cans in bags or other containers can be left in the yard at 725 W. 29th St. The homeowner, Gary O’Neal, recycles the cans. Proceeds are donated to the Fayette County Cancer Society, which uses the money to assist local people with cancer and their families. Cans may be left at a sign in the yard.
