Dakota Kunkel is Connersville Middle School’s seventh-grade Spartan of the Week for the week of Dec. 17. Dakota is the daughter of Scott and Sandi Kunkel.

Dakota was nominated by Amy King, math teacher, for being respectful, responsible and ready to learn. King stated, “Dakota is a wonderful student. She is always responsible, respectful, and ready to learn. Dakota is willing to volunteer in class. She asks questions to make sure she is understanding her concepts. She is determined to learn and do well. She is a joy to have in class.”

At CMS, Dakota is a member of the basketball team, choir, and FFA. She is on the honor roll and had perfect attendance for the first nine weeks. Dakota’s favorite class is social studies.

Outside of school, Dakota participates in 4-H. In her spare time, she enjoys horseback riding and taking care of her animals.

After high school, she plans to attend college. When asked what she liked best about being a student at CMS, Dakota said, “I like best how the teachers are nice and they let us move around the school freely.”

Kindred Conley is CMS’s eighth-grade Spartan of the Week for the week of Dec. 17. Kindred is the daughter of Walter and Angela Conley.

Kindred was nominated by Amy King, math teacher, for being respectful, responsible and ready to learn. King stated, “Kindred is willing to volunteer in class. She asks questions to make sure she is understanding her concepts. She is a joy to have in class.”

At CMS, Kindred is a member of the volleyball team, Writers Club, and plans to try out for the softball team. Kindred is on the honor roll. Kindred’s favorite classes are technology and social studies.

Outside of school, she is a member of a traveling softball team and the Laurel Baptist Church youth group. In her spare time, she enjoys watching television and pitching softballs.

After high school, she plans to attend college and become a pediatrician.

When asked what she liked best about being a student at CMS, Kindred said, “I like that you have so many teachers to talk to and you get to move around instead of staying in one classroom.”

Her advice to seventh graders is, “If you turn in your work, you get better grades.”

Spartans of the Week will not be published during the Christmas break. It will return in the on Jan. 6, 2019.
