Members of the local Connersville Future Farmers of America Chapter are preparing for their annual auction on Wednesday.

The local Connersville Future Farmers of America Chapter will hold its 5th annual auction, Wednesday, Dec. 12.

The PARP pesticide training will run from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., followed directly by a pork dinner provided by the Fayette county swine association. Following that, the auction will begin. The pesticide training is for farmers, who can use it to renew their pesticide license through the state.

The auction will be held inside the Connersville High School Cafeteria. The pork dinner will be provided by the Fayette County Swine Association at 6:30 p.m., then the auction will begin.

“At the auction, we will be selling seed corn and beans from several local dealers, animal feed, a vet clinic gift basket, Tractor Supply items, and many other great items,” CHS Agriculture teacher Gabe Nobbe said.

According to Nobbe, the money raised will go to fund FFA projects, contests, camps, community events, and trips throughout the year.

“The seed auction is one of the major sources of income we participate in,” FFA Treasurer Molly James said. “The auction lets us interact with the farmers in our community, as well as with the businesses that auction the items off. We get many donations from different companies in our community and communities surrounding us.”

Students work hard to prepare for the annual event.

“The students have been making many phone calls to vendors and farmers in preparation, as well as writing the script for the actual event. They have worked very hard.”

Since FFA started the auction five years ago, it has been the biggest fundraiser of the year.

The auctioneer for the evening will be Rusty Harmeyer.
