Two charged in church burglary

METAMORA — Franklin County police arrested two Indianapolis residents suspected of burglarizing a church in Metamora.

Deputies with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department responded to the Metamora on a report of suspicious-acting persons at the Country Mark gas station. They found a man and a woman who matched witnesses descriptions at the Gateway Park, Ramonte D. Robinson Jr., 21, and Katie L. McDaniel, 32, both of Indianapolis.

Deputies found several items believed to have been stolen from Metamora Bible Baptist Church on U.S. 52. They also found a car that had been reported stolen out of Indianapolis.

Police took Robinson and McDaniel into custody on several charges and lodged them in the Franklin County Security Center.

Robinson is charged with felony burglary and felony possession of a stolen vehicle.

McDaniel is charged with being a violent felon in possession of a firearm, felony burglary and felony possession of a stolen vehicle.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputy John Roberts investigated, assisted by Deputy Andrew Voelker and Indiana State Police Crime Scene Investigator Sgt. Steve Weigel.

More charges could be filed. All suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
