Spartans of the Week

Azera Palmer is Connersville Middle School’s seventh-grade Spartan of the Week for the week of Dec. 3. Azera is the daughter of Steve and Heather Palmer.

Azera was nominated by the Eagles team for being respectful, responsible and ready to learn. Emily Whittaker, Eagles math teacher, stated, “Azera puts forth an effort every day in class. She is friendly towards staff and students. She has the desire to do well in school and is self-motivated.”

At CMS, Azera is a member of the band, choir, Crochet Club, and FCA. She is on the honor roll this year as well as last year. Azera’s favorite class is choir.

In her spare time, she enjoys horseback riding, art and volleyball.

After high school, she plans to attend college.

When asked what she liked best about being a student at CMS, Azera said, “I love the freedom and all of the other students.”

Haley Coker is CMS’s eighth-grade Spartan of the Week for the week of Dec. 3. Haley is the daughter of William and Crystal Coker.

Haley was nominated by Amy King, math teacher, for being respectful, responsible and ready to learn. King stated, “Haley is a great student. She comes to class ready to learn. She is responsible and respectful. She asks questions to learn. It is a pleasure to have her in class.”

At CMS, Haley is a member of Student Council and Team Lead. She plans to try out for the softball and basketball teams. Haley’s favorite classes are technology and math.

In her spare time, she enjoys going to her grandmother’s house and hanging out with cousins.

After high school, she plans to attend Ball State University. When asked what she liked best about being a student at CMS, Haley said, “I like how you get to walk around and not sit in a chair all day and all the teachers are nice.”

Her advice to seventh graders is, “get your work done and put your name on your papers.”
