Nancy Geniva Hogan

Nancy Geniva Hogan, 75, of Brookville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 6, 2018. She was born on April 4, 1943, in Bristol, Tennessee, and is the daughter of the late Vollie Bowery and Charmie Moore Bowery. On November 17, 1962, she married Joseph Hogan in Blooming Grove and they were able to enjoy 52 years together before he passed on May 26, 2015.

Nancy retired from Heritage House in 2011, where she been the bookkeeping manager. She was well loved by staff and family and affectionately known as “Mama Hogan”. After retirement, she worked for the local J.C. Penney until it closed last year. She then returned to Heritage House to work as an administrative assistant. Nancy loved her family and friends and spent as much time as possible with them. She also enjoyed being outdoors and working in her yard.

She is survived by a daughter, Monica (Eric) Boger, of Blooming Grove; two grandchildren, Andrew (Heather) Boger, and Mitchell Boger and his fiancée, Hanah; who was also a special friend and caregiver to Nancy. Also surviving are, two great-grandchildren, Brandon Boger and Kylie Boger; a brother, Ed Bowery; three sisters-in-law, Shirley (Larry) McKinley, Judy Biltz, and Norma (Steve) Smitley; two brothers-in-law, Jim (Jane Montgomery) Hogan, and Curtis Hogan, as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, who will dearly miss her.

Along with her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Tammy; a brother, Wiley Bowery, and two sisters, Myrtle Ball and Shirley Geiger.

Visitation for Nancy will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018, from 10:00am until 1:00pm, at Urban-Winkler Funeral Home, Connersville. The funeral service will begin at 1:00pm on Thursday, with Pastor Gary Taylor, of Farmland Central Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Everton Cemetery.
