Thomas Huffman is Connersville Middle School’s seventh grade Spartan of the Week for the week of Sept. 10. Thomas is the son of Jeanette and Sarah Strong.

Donna Litton, Race Cars math teacher, nominated Thomas for taking on the responsibility of breakfast in his first period class. Litton added, “He completes this on a daily basis without having to be instructed to do so. Thomas is also showing 100 percent effort in pre-algebra. He completes all his work and participates in class.”

At CMS, Thomas is a member of the football team. Last year, he received the most improved award for grades 3-6 at Fayette Central Elementary.

In his spare time, he enjoys video games. Thomas’s favorite class is social studies.

After high school, he plans to attend college.

When asked what he liked best about being a student at CMS, Thomas said, “The freedom to be trusted to travel from class to class without being watched all the time, I like to be trusted.”

Adrionna Griffin is CMS’s eighth grade Spartan of the Week for the week of Sept. 10. Adrionna is the daughter of Michael and Sheila Rude.

Adrionna was nominated by Maranda Ladd, Windjammers English teacher, for being beyond helpful with breakfast procedures and other miscellaneous tasks during first period. Ladd added, “Adrionna is always willing to lend a hand to help others and is always on task and ready to learn. I enjoy having her in my class.”

At CMS, Adrionna is a member of the volleyball team. Last year, she was on the honor roll and received the Principal’s award as well as the Best Mental Attitude award for Energizers at the spring athletic awards.

Outside of school, Adrionna participates in 4-H, dances at Sandee’s Danz Explosion and is a member of Higher Praise church youth group. In her spare time, she enjoys hanging out with friends, playing on her phone and hanging out with brothers and sisters.

Adrionna’s favorite classes are math and English. After high school, she plans to pursue a career in special education or law in order to help kids in the system.

When asked what she liked best about being a student at CMS, Adrionna said, “The thing I like best about being a student at CMS would be having the opportunity to connect with all the teachers.”

Her advice for seventh graders is, “stay positive, pay attention, get work done, and try to steer clear of drama.”
