Lady Spartan golfers fall short to Bulldogs

BATESVILLE — Getting off to a slow start, the Connersville High School girls golf team rallied late, but still wound up on the wrong end of a 201-215 score against Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference opponent Batesville on Tuesday evening.

Storms earlier in the day threatened to cancel the match, but by tee time at Hillcrest Country Club, the skies had cleared.

Baylee Schneider wound up leading the Lady Spartans with a nine-hole score of 52.

Close behind her however, were teammates Sarah Griffin and Tyla Patterson, that duo finishing with scores od 53 and 54, respectively. Alexa Weber rounded out the Connersville scoring in the match, turning in a card that read 56.

Other scores for the Spartans included Kelli Caldwell (62), Maddy Newman (65) and Kaylynn Mohr (65).

The dual was the first for Connersville, dropping the team to 0-1 on the season. CHS entertained Yorktown at Willowbrook Country Club on Thursday night (results not available at press time). The team will next travel to play in an invitational at Ben Davis High School on Saturday.
