B-17 coming to Richmond Airport

RICHMOND -- A World War II-era B-17 Flying Fortress will offer rides to the public during a visit to Richmond Municipal Airport on Tuesday, Aug. 28.

Rides will be available from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. for $449, advance purchase. Members of the Experimental Aircraft Association, which is organizing the event, may fly in it for $409. The cost increses by $24 the day of the event.

Ground tours are offered at $10 per person or $20 for a family. Veterans, active military and children under 8 can participate in ground tours at no charge.

Richmond Muncipal Airport is located at 5169 Indiana 227, Richmond.

A restored B-17 named Aluminum Overcast is on a nationwide tour for the EAA. It will be in Waukegan, Ill., from Aug. 24-26 and at Cincinnati’s Lunken Field from Aug. 31-Sept. 3.

Small business workshop planned

A workshop for small business owners, “Don’t Be Afraid of Your Numbers,” will be 4-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, in the Connersville City Hall conference room, 500 Central Ave.

Organized by the Fayette County Chamber and Indiana Small Business Development Center, it will provide hands-on guidance on business financials.

Hospital will honor a doctor 

RICHMOND --- Nominations are being accepted through Aug. 20 for the annual Paul S. Rhoads, M.D., Humanity in Medicine award. It recognizes a doctor who demonstrates a commitment to quality, compassion, sensitivity and caring attitudes in dealing with patients, families and colleagues.
