Recipients of the Turner Clifford Scholarships are Nicholas Mustin and Grace Sarmiento, both former students of Orange Elementary School and 2018 graduates of Connersville High School.

Mustin will attend IU East with a career goal of earning a degree in criminal justice. He plans to play tennis for the IU East Red Wolves.

Sarmiento will also attend IU East, seeking a career in the medical field. She received her CNA through Whitewater Career Center in first semester of her senior year and has been employed by Heritage House.

The scholarship was established in 1996 by Grace Turner in memory of her parents, Francis and Mildred Turner, long-time residents of Orange Township. Following the death of Grace’s husband Gary Clifford, his name was added to the scholarship.

Grace Clifford said, “I usually choose one recipient but this year gave two from six very impressive candidates, all former Orange Elementary students, which is a requirement for applying for this scholarship.”
