Harold G. Robinson

Harold G. Robinson of Seminole, Florida, formerly of Zionsville, Connersville, IN and Hernando, FL, died on July 26, 2018, a few days before his 93rd birthday, which would have been July 29.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley; daughter, Melissa Nelson (Greg Slipher) and son, Lyle Robinson; grandchildren: Lorne (Helen), Rob, Mark (Brittany), Keith (Heidi), Sonja (Zac) and great-grandchildren, Ava and Joel.

Harold grew up in Zionsville, IN. He farmed, then served in the Army. He worked for Farm Bureau Co-ops in Johnson, Franklin and Fayette Counties. He was the manager of the Fayette County Co-op from 1966 to 1990.

He served on numerous boards including Fayette County Free Fair, Chamber of Commerce, Fayette Memorial Hospital, Indiana Feed and Grain Dealers. He was a member of Grand Avenue Methodist Church and Pasadena Methodist Church in Florida.

In retirement, he volunteered for Reid Memorial Hospice, Habitat for Humanity, Friends of the Library. As a Lions Club member, he volunteered hundreds of hours collecting and preparing donated eyeglasses. He and Shirley served on Lions Club eyeglass missions to Guatemala, Panama, Tanzania and Romania.

At the age of 62, and at the urging of his son, he took up bicycling. He and Shirley rode a tandem bicycle locally and on rides throughout the U.S. With Shirley as stoker, Harold rode 75 miles on the day of his 75th birthday and 90 miles during the month of his 90th birthday.

His family will forever miss his wonderful storytelling, amazing memory and sense of humor. A graveside service will take place on October 5, 2018 at 11:00 am at Zionsville Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Freewheelin Community Bikes, 3355 N. Central Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46205.
