4-H Report


Jared Jobe called the June 26 meeting of the Vanguards 4-H Club to order. American Pledge led by Elizabeth Waterman. 4-H Pledge led by Blane Stephen.

Roll call: Fifteen members gave reports on their progress with 4-H projects. No singing. Madi Sparks read minutes of the June 12 meeting. No additions or corrections.

Business: T-shirts should be available at the next meeting. They are being screen printed now. The cost of screen printing is $4. The last YQCA training is available on July 10 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Extension office. YQCA is mandatory for those showing livestock, even rabbits, poultry and waterfowl.

Linda told about an opportunity our club has to work at the Indiana Audubon Society Hummingbird Migration Celebration on Aug. 11 at the Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary. Our club would work at the concessions.

Members are asked to donate a gift card at the next meeting which will go into baskets to be auctioned, with proceeds going to the 4-H Support Group.

Demonstrations: Lileana Paddock showed ingredients used in making slime and told how she did it.

Blake Stephen read devotions titled “What Leaders Do.”

Health and safety report: Water safety was discussed since so many enjoy cooling off in the water on these hot summer days. Members shared precautions to be taken in and around water.

Refreshments served by Lileana Paddock and Aubrey and Austine Segrest.

Next meeting is a family picnic at 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 9, at the Bergmans.
