Grand Avenue UMC

Gwen Pew began her services as pastor of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church, 1933 Grand Ave., July 1. The church started in the home of John Kessler in 1883 in the nearby Maplewood community. Austin Claypool donated land for the construction of a new building the members dedicated in 1885. The congregation hosts Happy Time Preschooland the Mission Mart, selling used clothing and housewares at a reduced price. Sundaymorning small group meetingsis 9:15 a.m. and worship at 10:45. Day camp will return to Peace Lutheran Chuch, 701 W. 3rd St., beginning Sunday with registration at 2:30 p.m. and activities from 3-6. The fun and learning continues Monday through Thursday, with children entering grades 1-6 attending all day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Four-year-olds and children entering kindergarten attend half-day sessions from 9-11:30 a.m. There is no cost to attend, but space is limited to 60 campers. The Hope Center will host a family friendly comedy night, LOL, with John Felts, at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at Calvary Baptist Church, 309 W. 24th St. Tickets are $15 or four for $50. The evening is sponsored by Parsley Properties, Williams and Keckler, Falmouth Farm Supply and Calvary Baptist.

Brianna’s Hope-A Better Life meets in Connersville at Crosspointe Biker Church on Tuesdays; in Cambridge City at The River Assembly of God on Thursdays; and at Edwards Memorial United Methodist Church in Liberty on Tuesdays. Each meeting is 6:30-8 p.m.
