Helicopter rides location changed

Busy Bee Helicopter and the Connersville Lions Club have changed locations for taking helicopter rides Friday and Saturday, June 22 and 23.

The rides will originate from the Ohio Valley Soccer Complex on Veterans Memorial Drive. Rides will be offered from 3-8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday for $40 a person.

Two hearings set for zoning appeals board

Two hearings are scheduled at Monday’s Fayette County Board of Zoning Appeals meeting, which starts at 7:30 p.m. in Connersville City Hall, 500 Central Ave.

The first hearing is for a variance from development standards for Joseph M. and Darcie L. Ferreira, who wish to build a room additioin at 2926 E. County Road 400 S in Jennings Township. The addition would be 15 feet from the rear property line. A setback of 35 feet is normally required because the property is in an A2 zoning district.

The second hearing is for Brandon A. and Amanda J. Gill, who are asking for a variance from development standards so they can build a garage addition 11 feet from the rear property line at 209 Ridge Road in Connersville. A setback of 25 feet is normally required because the property is in an R1 zoning district.

The meeting is open to the public.

The Fayette County Area Plan Commission meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday has been cancelled for lack of business.

Sports photography workshop June 15-16

KNIGHTSTOWN — The Basketball & Sports Photography Workshop at the Hoosier Gym, June 15-16, is accepting participants.

A demonstration on sports portraiture techniques and location lighting will be presented by Doug Daniels II. Daniels is a sports and portrait photographer based in southern Illinois. 

The main instructor is Richard Sitler. He has been photographing basketball professionally for over 30 years. Sitler has worked at several newspapers.

The two-day workshop will be at the Hoosier Gym, home court for the Hickory Huskers in the movie Hoosiers. The workshop will include an opportunity to photograph live action. This workshop is limited to 15 participants, from beginners to experienced, ages 16 and up.
