Randy Dale 'Gizmo' Morehead

Randy Dale “Gizmo” Morehead, 68, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018, at Reid Health in Richmond. He was born on March 10, 1950, in Aurora, Indiana. He is the son of Shirley Alberstein and Bob (Dottie) Morehead. Randy spent part of his childhood in The Soldiers and Sailors Home in Knightstown, IN, before being raised by his aunt and uncle, Ada and Eddie Abbott. On November 26, 1973, he married Betty Jean Bell. They were able to enjoy almost 45 years together.

He had worked at Ready Tool & Die and Bike Barn in Orange. He was the owner and operator of both Crystal Clean Carpets and Gizmo’s Bait & Boat Storage in Dunlapsville. For several years he was Fayette County Cemetery Supervisor, until he retired. After retiring, he began building and selling wooden furniture as Bark Art by Gizmo. He enjoyed riding the many Harley-Davidson motorcycles he owned throughout his life. He also enjoyed woodworking, cemetery restoration, playing his guitar, and listening to blues music. His favorite was spending time with his family.

Along with his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Kandy (Aaron) Poe, Crystal (Shane ) Frasher, and Amanda (Charlie) Gough, all of Connersville; a son, Erik (Brenda) Riley, of Bedford, KY; three brothers, Darryll (Beth) Morehead, of Connersville, Morrie (Debbie) Abbott, of Connersville, and Ronnie (Terry) Bradford, of La Porte, IN; two sisters, Joy (Bob) Long, of Greenfield, and Sherry Kessinger, of Clarksville, IN; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Pearson, of Connersville; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Martha & Don Sebring, of Connersville; eleven grandchildren, Brennon Poe, Tyler Workman, Dalton Ailes, Emily Poe, Jordan Ailes, Ella Poe, Logan Frasher, and Brody Gough, all of Connersville; as well as Kimberly Huff, Angela Blevins, and Stephanie Riley, all of Kentucky. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Allyssa, Sheynne, Caden, and Diana, all of Kentucky; a special nephew, Terry Edwards; several other nieces and nephews, and his beloved dogs, Missy, Cocoa, and Harley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Mike Bradford and Kirk Mathews; a brother-in-law, Bruce Pearson, and a nephew, Darryll Lee Morehead Jr.

Services for Randy will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018, at Urban-Winkler Funeral Home, Connersville. Visitation will be from 4:00pm until 6:00pm, and the funeral service will begin at 6:00pm, with Minister Dennis Perkins, officiating.
