Travel series will stop in Africa

Friends of the Library will feature a travelogue presented by Carla Beard at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, in the Fayette County Public Library meeting room, 828 N. Grand Ave. 

Beard will share her experiences travelling in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa. Her photos capture exotic wildlife and, people plants and trees of the continent.  

The public may attend this presentation, a free program sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Follow-ups to Public Spaces planned

Follow-up workshops from the community meeting about Enhancing the Value of Public Space-Creating Healthy Communities are scheduled for May 15 and May 23.

The next step in the Healthy Communities process is is to Create SMART objectives for Healthy Food and Active Living Environments and develop an action plan to implement these goals, according to coordinator Becky Marvel, community wellness coordinator for the Purdue Extension.

Workshop 1 will be from 9 a.m.-noon Tuesday, May 15, at First United Methodist Church, 729 Central Ave. Lunch by Rip’s Barbecue will be served afterward.

Workshop 2 will be 3-6 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at the Fayette County Courthouse first floor conference room.
