Pancake breakfast tickets being sold

Tickets are available for the annual Connersville Kiwanis Club pancake breakfast, which will be 7-10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 5, at Expo Hall, behind Dairy Queen on Park Road.

Adult tickets cost $7; children, aged 6-12, at $4. All funds go toward Kiwanis Club charitable service projects.

All Kiwanis Club members have a supply of tickets. Joe King is president; other officers include Tim Rogers, Frank Oakman, Beth Butsch-Gottlieb, Gayle Halberstadt and Ralph Burchett.

Farm preservation will be honored

Indiana Landmarks and Indiana Farm Bureau welcome nominations for the 2018 John Arnold Award for Rural Preservation, recognizing preservation and continued agricultural use of historic farm buildings.

The Arnold Award will be presented during the Indiana State Fair in August 2018. The nomination asks for:

• A brief history of the farm and description of its significant historic structures and features;

• A description of how the farm’s historic agricultural structures are used in day-to-day farming operations, and how they have been preserved or adapted.

• High-res digital photographs of the farm and its preserved historic features.

The award winner receives an outdoor marker, a vehicle pass to the Indiana State Fair, and overnight accommodation in Indianapolis for the presentation.

Riley license plates help hospital

INDIANAPOLIS — Riley license plates raise more than $400,000 each year for Riley Hospital for Children. With each plate purchase, a $25 gift goes directly to Riley Children’s Foundation to support the hospital.

Riley Hospital is Indiana’s only nationally ranked and comprehensive children’s research hospital, with more than 300,000 patient visits annually.

Approximately 17,000 Indiana motorists have a Riley red wagon specialty license plate. Riley plates are available for cars, trucks or motorcycles. Visit MyRileyPlate.org, or any Indiana license branch and request a Riley plate.

Body found in rental truck in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indianapolis police say a human body has been found inside the back of a rental truck.

Officer Jim Gillespie says an employee of a U-Haul store made the discovery Wednesday afternoon on the city’s south side.

Police initially reported the body was that of an infant, but said later it’s believed to be that of an adult.
