I-70 bridge work starting today

Rehab work may start today on the I-70 bridge over the Flatrock River in southern Henry County.

Force Construction has a $4.4 million contract from the Indiana Department of Transportation to begin rehabbing the bridge, three miles east of State Road 3.

Contractors will be replacing the beams and deck on the bridge. In preparation for the work, contractors will begin constructing a temporary bridge in the median. The median bridge will be used to shift traffic away from the work zone, which will allow contractors to safely work on rehabbing the bridges.

Work is expected to be complete by summer 2019.
