Carol J. Hoffman

Carol J. Hoffman, 87, of Connersville, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018, surrounded by her family and friends at her son’s home, where she had resided for the last 13 years. She was born on May 24, 1930, in Greencastle, Indiana — one of two daughters born to Vernon Shirley and Laura Alice Cooper Shirley. On June 19, 1949, she married Robert Hoffman in Greencastle. Together they enjoyed 57 years of marriage before he passed away on August 18, 2006.

Carol was a member of First United Methodist Church, along with several clubs and organizations, including: Garden Club, Cary Club, The Dorothy Canfield Club, ADOU Group, Questers Club, and the WACKOS Club. In 1947, she joined the Kappa Kappa Kappa Sorority. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and many other groups. She enjoyed playing cards and participated in several Bridge Clubs. Carol was a founding representative of the Connersville Welcome Wagon. Together with her husband, she owned and operated Hoffman Dry Cleaners and Laundry Mat for over 20 years.

She is survived by a daughter, Julia “Julie” Lynn Hoffman of Connersville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Brent, of Connersville, IN and Craig and Angie Hoffman of Connersville; three grandchildren, Zachary Ty Hoffman, Kaelynn Langen, and Allison Jane Hoffman, all of Connersville, and three nephews, Allen (Marcia) Reineking, of Houston, TX, Scott (Connie) Reineking, of Houston, TX, and Kent (Paula) Reineking, of Batesville, IN.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Reineking.

Services for Carol will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at 11:00am at Urban-Winkler Funeral Home, Connersville. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 4:00pm until 8:00pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Garden Club or the Fayette County Library.
