Riley Steele is Connersville Middle School’s seventh-grade Spartan of the Week for the week of March 12. Riley is the daughter of Dale and Kari Steele.

Brian Munchel, physical education teacher, nominated Riley for her hard work and great attitude. Munchel stated, “Riley was a pleasure to have in physical education class first semester as she continuously showed qualities of being a model student at CMS. She worked hard and performed at her best all semester, all while having a smile on her face.”

Riley is a member of the CMS Student Council. She is an honor roll student. Last year as a student at Everton, she was on the honor roll and received the President’s award and the School Board Academic Achievement award.

Outside of school, she is on a softball team and participates in 4-H. In her free time she likes to hang out with her animals.

Her favorite classes are science and math. After high school she would like to attend college to become a marine biologist.

When asked what she liked best about being a student at Connersville Middle School, Riley said, “I like how kind and helpful the teachers are.”

Claire Stinger is CMS’s 8th-grade Spartan of the Week for the week of March 12. Claire is the daughter of Shannon Stinger and Neil Stinger.

Victoria Smejkal, school counselor, nominated her for being a model Team Lead student. Smejkal explained, “Claire took the initiative to help another student when they were having a problem. By standing up for someone in need, Claire set a wonderful example of a Team Lead student and as a CMS student overall.”

In addition to being a Team Lead member, Claire is a member of the eighth-grade choir, eighth-grade band, Speech team, the Skit Squad, and the Energizers dance team. She is an honor roll student. Last year in seventh grade, she earned the Principal’s award and the School Board Academic Achievement award.

Outside of school, she is a member of a softball team and takes dance classes at Sandee’s Danz Explosion. In her free time, she likes to hang out with her friends.

Her favorite class is choir. After high school, she would like to attend college to study prosthetics.

Claire’s advice to seventh-grade students is “don’t be afraid to ask questions in class and always pay attention to your teacher.” When asked what she liked about CMS, Claire stated, “I like that I get to meet new friends and that my teachers are very helpful.”
